Review of Radiographic Technique and Interpretation of the Equine Skull
نویسندگان
چکیده
Acquisition and interpretation of equine skull radiographs is notoriously difficult. However, by dividing the skull into anatomic regions and considering the radiographic appearance of various pathologic changes that occur in these regions, the process of evaluation becomes simpler. This report aims to review acquisition of skull radiographs and radiographic appearance of various diseases in order to aid the equine practitioner in evaluation of skull radiographs. Every Practitioner Can Take Good Dental Radiographs
For years, equine surgeons have found equine skull radiography to be a valuable tool in the diagnosis and management of dental disease. The excellent contrast between air, bone, soft tissue, and tooth substance make the head an ideal area for radiographic evaluation. Conventional or standard radiographic projections adequately image the reserve crown apices, lamina dura denta, alveolar space, a...

Learning skull radiography techniques is time consuming and difficult, due to the variety of these techniques. Each year, poor employee performance of the radiology unit, impose repetitive radiographs, and a heavy burden on the health system, as well as double exposure of patients and staff. According to the results of the current investigation, comparing student’s opinions revealed that ...

Ultrasonographic examination is a readily available, inexpensive diagnostic technique for investigating osseous and soft tissue abnormalities of the equine head, is complementary to radiography, and may elucidate bony abnormalities not initially apparent on skull radiographs. Ultrasound may provide enough information to preclude computed tomography examination or may validate recommendations fo...

Numerous techniques for injection into the distal sesamoid bursa (navicular bursa) have been described, especially in equine, but there are few specific descriptions regarding this practice being done in cattle. Five different techniques were compared for injection into the distal sesamoid bursa in cattle including distal plantar approach parallel with the coronary band, proximal plantar approa...
